Underwriting Credit Risk Analyst

About the role

The Underwriting Credit Risk Analyst supports the credit underwriting team by analysing financial statements, tax returns and credit data to assess risk and recommend appropriate loan structures. This entry‑level position works closely with Credit Officers and Relationship Managers, providing technical insight and ensuring compliance with Citibank policies.

Key responsibilities

• Spread and analyse business and personal financial statements and tax returns in accordance with GAAP and Citibank guidelines.
• Map financial data into the bank’s credit matrix and analysis tools for simple to complex credits.
• Provide comments and recommendations to underwriters on significant financial items, loan structure and pricing.
• Prepare preliminary cash‑flow, debt‑service coverage, collateral coverage and guarantor net‑worth calculations.
• Coordinate with Credit Officers, Credit Analysts and Relationship Managers throughout the credit review process.
• Act as an industry specialist for designated sectors, including SBA and EXIM loan analysis.
• Conduct quality‑assurance reviews of credit packages before submission for underwriting.

Required profile

• 0‑2 years of experience in a financial institution or related environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and credit analysis principles.
• Ability to identify data inconsistencies and formulate policy‑related recommendations.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on compliance and risk mitigation.
