Video Editing Intern

About the role

ActionAid International is seeking a motivated Video Editing Intern to join its Communications and Campaigns team at the Global Secretariat hub in Nairobi. The 6‑month internship provides hands‑on experience creating short‑form, mobile‑first videos for social media, campaigns, fundraising and advocacy, under the guidance of the Social Media and Content Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Edit short‑form videos for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, LinkedIn and X, following briefs and using approved source material.
• Create cut‑downs and platform‑specific adaptations from longer footage, interviews and event recordings.
• Support video production for campaigns, advocacy moments, fundraising appeals, humanitarian updates and rapid‑response content.
• Add subtitles, lower‑thirds, on‑screen text, title cards, end frames and calls‑to‑action using ActionAid templates and brand guidelines.
• Prepare final exports in required formats (vertical, square, landscape) and organise source files, project assets and final masters in shared folders with clear naming conventions.
• Update simple content trackers to monitor edit progress and status.
• Use only approved creative assets and flag any concerns related to audio quality, consent, safeguarding or copyright.
• Incorporate feedback from the Social Media and Content Manager and maintain version control until final approval.
• Participate in learning opportunities, including exposure to social media scheduling tools and Canva.

Required profile

• Motivated and eager to learn in a fast‑paced communications environment.
• Strong interest in social justice, gender equality and poverty eradication.
• Ability to work under the guidance of the Social Media and Content Manager.
• Attention to detail and willingness to flag audio, consent or safeguarding issues.

Required skills

• Video editing and post‑production for short‑form, mobile‑first content.
• Adding subtitles, lower‑thirds and on‑screen graphics using ActionAid templates.
• Use of Canva for graphic creation.
• Familiarity with social media scheduling tools.
