Wage and Hour Specialist (Training)

About the role

The Wage and Hour Specialist (Training) supports the agency by identifying performance gaps, designing training solutions, and ensuring compliance with federal wage and hour regulations. This position blends analytical work with instructional design to improve employee knowledge and program effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze performance challenges through document review, observations, interviews, and surveys to pinpoint knowledge and skill deficiencies.
• Develop and coordinate a consistent approach for training initiatives across the agency.
• Create plain‑language presentations, briefing papers, and talking points for training audiences.
• Respond to training‑related inquiries from agency personnel and prepare educational materials.
• Design and conduct performance tests and evaluation studies to measure skill improvements.
• Monitor progress on meeting training requirements within annual performance plans.
• Plan and develop complex assignments and training initiatives linked to prospective policy changes.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, at least 16 years old, able to obtain required security clearance.
• 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑12 level.
• Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) satisfied.
• At least two of the following: knowledge of federal wage and hour laws, skill in analyzing written/verbal and numerical data, and ability to communicate requirements and obtain cooperation from diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to apply federal wage and hour statutes and regulations.
