Wage and Hour Specialist – Senior Advisor

About the role

The Wage and Hour Specialist provides senior‑level expertise and advisory support on complex wage and hour enforcement policies related to government contract labor statutes. This position serves as a key authority for senior management, ensuring compliance and guiding nationwide enforcement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a recognized authority and senior advisor to senior management on high‑visibility, politically sensitive wage and hour enforcement policies.
• Formulate, initiate, and lead major government contract labor enforcement initiatives across assigned programs.
• Assess needs, plan, conduct, and lead analysis of enforcement policies and recommend new or revised interpretations of labor statutes.
• Regularly review program policies, regulations, and guidelines for relevance and initiate updates.
• Advise senior management on the preparation of position papers, reports, studies, and formal actions where guidance is limited.
• Draft and develop written products that interpret and explain controversial agency policies with nationwide impact.
• Coordinate with the Office of the Solicitor to obtain legal advice and ensure all enforcement documents are legally sound.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, at least 16 years old, able to obtain required security clearance.
• Minimum of 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑13 grade level.
• Must meet the Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) for the position.
• Possess at least two of the following: general knowledge of federal wage and hour labor laws, industrial occupations, wage scales, employment practices; strong analytical skills for written, verbal, and numerical data; experience drafting policy documents.
