Waste Truck Assistant / Janitor

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Waste Truck Assistant / Janitor in Karen for its waste management operations. The role covers supporting waste collection, keeping collection points and work areas clean, and following health, safety and environmental procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the waste collection team with daily collection, loading and unloading of waste, and support the driver on assigned routes.
• Help move and handle waste safely at collection points and report missed collections, access problems or operational issues to the supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene around collection points and assigned areas, sweeping, cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining work areas.
• Clean and maintain waste collection equipment and leave collection areas tidy after waste removal.
• Use and care for PPE, follow health, safety, hygiene and environmental procedures, and report hazards, spills or damaged equipment immediately.
• Work with drivers, supervisors and cleaners, follow their instructions and help complete daily collection schedules.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Cleaning, Waste Management, Environmental Management or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in waste collection, janitorial services, cleaning, sanitation, facilities management or a similar role.
• Practical experience handling waste and cleaning equipment.
• Good personal hygiene and professional conduct.
• Experience in a commercial, residential, institutional or industrial setting is an added advantage.
