Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Worker – US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Worker to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves operating, maintaining, and monitoring the plant’s equipment and processes to ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment, systems, and processes under the supervision of the Designated Responsible Charge (DRC).
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment.
• Collect wastewater samples and assist with laboratory testing to verify process consistency.
• Document operational readings, equipment logs, and performance data accurately.
• Clean, adjust, and troubleshoot plant equipment following safety procedures.
• Handle hazardous substances and respond to spills or releases in accordance with guidelines.
• Participate in training and emergency response exercises.
• Assist with emergency repairs and urgent operational needs as directed.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations or a related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of wastewater treatment methods, equipment, and safety practices.
• Familiarity with hazardous substance handling and spill response procedures.
• Ability to work under supervision in a team‑oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record‑keeping.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity and ability to travel internationally.
• Pass contract medical requirements and maintain them for the deployment duration.
