Web Platforms Officer

About the role

The Web Platforms Officer will support UNEP’s Communication Division by managing and enhancing the organization’s web presence, including corporate sites, affiliated portals and the Knowledge Repository. The role ensures that web platforms are functional, accessible, multilingual and aligned with UNEP’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement web communication strategies for corporate and affiliated sites, ensuring brand consistency.
• Manage the development, maintenance and enhancement of platforms built on Drupal and DSpace, overseeing functionality, usability and technical efficiency.
• Establish and enforce technical, accessibility and multilingual standards across all UNEP web properties.
• Guide developers, designers and external providers in technical improvements and solutions.
• Provide technical support to internal stakeholders on website navigation, CMS usage and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with IT teams and vendors to manage subscriptions, resolve complex technical issues and deploy new applications.
• Conduct business analysis, process mapping and requirements gathering to translate stakeholder needs into functional specifications.
• Support the design and development of innovative digital products using design‑thinking, prototyping and user‑centered methodologies.
• Collaborate with graphic designers, UX/UI specialists and content creators to maintain branding consistency and high‑quality user experiences.
• Deliver training on CMS usage, website protocols, templates and best practices for content management.
