Website & SEO Intern

About the role

The Africa Centre for Project Knowledge & Techniques is looking for a proactive Website & SEO Intern to maintain and improve its website, boost organic search visibility, and enhance user experience for its training and consultancy services.

Key responsibilities

• Update, troubleshoot, and optimise the existing WordPress site for functionality, security and responsiveness.
• Implement on‑page, off‑page and technical SEO strategies to improve rankings and organic traffic.
• Monitor site speed, mobile compatibility and overall performance using tools such as Google PageSpeed Insights.
• Conduct keyword research, optimise metadata, internal links and content across training course pages and landing pages.
• Identify and resolve indexing issues, broken links, crawl errors and redirects via Google Search Console.
• Track traffic, keyword rankings and conversions with Google Analytics 4 and produce regular reports.

Required profile

• Recent or final‑year graduate in IT, Computer Science, Digital Marketing or related field.
• Practical experience with website maintenance or SEO through internships, projects or freelance work.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills, with ability to work independently.

Required skills

• WordPress (updates, plugins, themes, backups, troubleshooting).
• Technical SEO, on‑page SEO, keyword research, link building and content optimisation.
• Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, Google PageSpeed Insights.
• SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Yoast SEO or Rank Math.
• HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript for minor site improvements.
• Basic knowledge of website hosting, domain management, SSL certificates and site security.
