Works Officer I

About the role

Bandari Maritime Academy is recruiting a Works Officer I in Nairobi (Westlands). The post reports to the Senior Works Officer and covers reading and supervising construction work, cost and quantity estimation and maintenance of works and equipment. The position is permanent and pensionable.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings for works
• Carry out costing and quantity of works and equipment
• Supervise maintenance of works and equipment
• Supervise staff under them to work as assigned
• Prepare work schedules
• Make requisitions for required materials from central stores
• Supervise construction work on internal projects
• Report on technical matters relating to construction projects
• Ensure delivery of quality services and workmanship

Required profile

• At least three years' work experience at the grade of Works Officer II or in a comparable position
• Bachelor's degree in Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying or another relevant field
• Registration with the Engineer's Board of Kenya or a relevant professional body

Required skills

• Proficiency in computer applications

What we offer

• Basic salary scale of Kshs. 56,000 to Kshs. 99,500 per month
• House allowance of Kshs. 15,000
• Commuter allowance of Kshs. 14,000
• Leave allowance of Kshs. 6,000 annually
