Chief Nutrition Officer – Fixed Term (P-5) – Nairobi

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a senior leader to head its nutrition programme in Kenya. The Chief Nutrition will oversee strategic planning, implementation and results delivery for maternal, infant and child nutrition initiatives, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s global standards and Kenya’s national priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide managerial leadership for the nutrition team and coordinate with Health, WASH and cross‑sectoral sections.
• Develop, plan and monitor nutrition programmes from design through to results‑based management.
• Ensure quality control, monitoring and reporting of programme outcomes.
• Advise government and partners on nutrition strategies, especially during the first 1,000 days and adolescence.
• Manage budgets, resources and accountability frameworks in line with UNICEF policies.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience in managing large‑scale nutrition programmes in low‑resource settings.
• Strong leadership, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work in a results‑oriented environment and deliver measurable impact.
