Chief Nutrition Officer (P-5) – Nairobi

About the role

The Chief Nutrition (P‑5) leads UNICEF’s nutrition strategy in Kenya, overseeing programme design, implementation and advocacy to improve child and maternal nutrition outcomes. Reporting to senior management, the role combines technical expertise with strategic leadership to shape nutrition policies and partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Provide managerial leadership for nutrition programmes, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s global objectives.
• Develop, plan and launch nutrition initiatives, including public‑health interventions and food‑system strategies.
• Oversee programme management, monitoring, evaluation and quality control of results.
• Deliver advisory services and technical support to country teams and partners.
• Lead advocacy, networking and partnership building with governments, NGOs and donors.
• Drive innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building activities within the nutrition portfolio.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Nutrition, Public Health, Nutritional Epidemiology, Global Health, or related health science.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in nutrition, public health, nutrition policy, health systems, food systems or humanitarian nutrition.
• Demonstrated managerial leadership, strategic thinking and partnership development.
• Fluent English communication skills.
