About the role
The Chief, Security and Safety / Global Security and Safety Advisor provides senior leadership for UN Women’s worldwide security, safety, business continuity and crisis management functions. Reporting to the Director of the Division of Finance and Administration, the incumbent shapes policies, frameworks and standards to protect personnel, assets and operations across all UN Women locations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, revise and implement global security, safety, business continuity and crisis management policies and procedures.
- Conduct independent security and safety risk assessments and determine appropriate mitigation measures for all sites.
- Oversee the UN Women Security and Safety personnel, ensuring effective delivery of objectives.
- Manage resources and approve security‑related expenditures within approved budgets.
- Represent UN Women in inter‑agency forums and with external security stakeholders.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on high‑impact, politically sensitive security matters.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in security, safety, business continuity or crisis management within large international organisations.
- Proven ability to develop and enforce global security policies and standards.
- Strong leadership and decision‑making skills with autonomy to act at senior level.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interaction with senior officials and external partners.
