About the role
The Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) will deliver preventive, promotive and basic curative oral health services in community and rural settings, focusing on underserved populations. This role is essential for improving oral health outcomes in the Wajir region.
Key responsibilities
- Provide preventive and basic curative oral health services in community outreach programs.
- Conduct school dental health activities and support mobile dental clinics.
- Maintain accurate patient records using Health Management Information Systems (HMIS).
- Ensure infection prevention and control standards are followed.
- Educate communities on oral disease prevention and promote oral health awareness.
Required profile
- Diploma or degree in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
- Valid license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Minimum two years post‑internship experience.
- Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience in community outreach, school dental programs or mobile clinics is an advantage.
- Strong clinical skills in dental hygiene, infection control and computer proficiency (HMIS).
