Country Director (Kenyan Nationals Only)

About the role

The Country Director leads Johanniter International Assistance’s operations in Kenya and oversees activities in Ethiopia and Somalia. Reporting to the regional leadership team, the role is pivotal for shaping and executing the country strategy in line with regional and global objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, adapt and implement the country strategy aligned with regional and global plans.
• Lead networking, positioning and partnership development for the organization in Kenya and the wider region.
• Oversee all aspects of funding acquisition, donor management and financial stewardship together with the senior management team and regional funding coordinator.
• Manage the Kenya country office, ensuring effective program delivery, compliance and operational excellence.
• Provide accountability for programme implementation in Ethiopia and Somalia, either directly or through local implementing partners.
• Represent the organization to government bodies, NGOs, donors and other key stakeholders.

Required profile

• Kenyan national with extensive senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven track record in strategic planning, programme management and multi‑country operations.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations and financial management.
• Strong understanding of the security and operational environment in the Horn of Africa.
