Entry Level Laboratory Technologist

About the role

The Public Service Commission is hiring entry‑level Laboratory Technologists for the Ministry of Mining. This is a training grade where you will work under the supervision of a senior officer, performing basic laboratory tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Cleaning and sterilising laboratory glassware.
• Documenting and receiving samples for analysis.
• Preparing laboratory reagents.
• Preparing and analysing geological samples and gemstones.
• Disposing of laboratory waste safely.

Required profile

• Diploma in Applied Sciences (Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry), Laboratory or Biotechnology from a recognised institution.
• Entry‑level, no prior experience required.
• Ability to work under the guidance of a senior officer.

Required skills

• Laboratory glassware sterilisation.
• Sample documentation and receipt.
• Reagent preparation.
• Geological sample analysis.

What we offer

• Basic salary Ksh 32,410‑42,280 per month (CSG 12).
• House allowance Ksh 3,850‑6,750 per month.
• Commuter allowance Ksh 4,000 per month.
• Annual leave of 30 working days.
• Medical cover as provided by the government.
• Permanent, pensionable position.
