Finance and Contracts Officer – EU Delegation Kenya

About the role

The EU Delegation in Nairobi is seeking a Finance and Contracts Officer to support the Regional Partnerships Unit. The role focuses on financial initiation of procurement, grant and contract operations, ensuring compliance with EU rules.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and review financial aspects of contracts, addenda, payment orders and related documents.
• Provide advice on budgetary and financial matters to Delegation staff and beneficiaries.
• Support tender preparation, evaluation and contract award procedures, ensuring proper financial initiation.
• Monitor performance of financial operations, identify risks and propose mitigation measures.
• Maintain accurate data entry in EU financial IT systems and ensure proper archiving of documents.
• Assist with audit follow‑up, financial reporting and preparation of KPI statistics.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum three years) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or Law.
• At least five years of post‑graduate experience in financial management, procurement or audit, preferably in an international or development context.
• Proficiency in English (C2 level) and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
