Fire Inspector – Safety & Compliance

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Fire Inspector to support a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on ensuring fire safety compliance across facilities, protecting personnel and infrastructure through rigorous inspections and education.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive fire hazard inspections of buildings, equipment and operations.
• Evaluate compliance with NFPA codes, local regulations and program‑specific fire safety standards.
• Document violations, prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Review construction plans and fire protection system designs for code adherence.
• Deliver fire‑prevention training and outreach as a Public Fire and Life Safety Educator.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings and corrective measures.
• Assist the Fire Marshal with risk analysis, program development and emergency response.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years experience as a firefighter and two years as a fire inspector.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required facility credentials and pass contract medical requirements.
• Willingness to complete NFPA 101 Life Safety Course within two years of hire.

Required skills

• Fire Inspector I certification.
• Fire Inspector II certification.
• Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I certification.
• Hazmat Awareness certification.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and fire safety regulations.
• Proficiency in fire hazard analysis and corrective‑action reporting.
