Grants Financial Specialist II – Africa Region

About the role

The Grants Financial Specialist II will support Compassion International’s Africa region by managing the financial aspects of donor‑funded grants, particularly U.S. Government and other institutional donors. The role ensures compliance, accurate reporting, and strong financial controls throughout the grant lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop budgets and narrative justifications for U.S. Government and other institutional grant proposals.
• Manage financial processes from proposal development through grant close‑out, including monitoring expenditures and forecasts.
• Prepare donor‑compliant financial reports and conduct budget variance analyses.
• Support and coordinate Single Audits and other donor or procurement audits.
• Strengthen internal financial controls to ensure compliance with donor regulations.
• Collaborate with finance, program, legal, compliance, and field teams across multiple countries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 3‑5+ years of experience in grants finance, donor compliance, or financial management, preferably in an NGO or international development setting.
• Demonstrated experience developing budgets and narratives for U.S. Government grants.
• Strong knowledge of 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) and experience with UN and other institutional donors.
• Experience supporting or managing Single Audits for U.S. Government‑funded programs.
