Head of Pharmacy Operations and Clinical Procurement

About the role

Equity Bank Kenya is seeking a senior leader to head Pharmacy Operations and Clinical Procurement. The role will shape the vision, strategy and execution of pharmacy services across the bank’s health‑related initiatives, ensuring safe, compliant and cost‑effective delivery of medicines and health commodities.

Key responsibilities

• Define long‑term strategy, growth priorities and market expansion plans for pharmacy operations.
• Lead system, formulary and process changes across the network, driving operational efficiency and cost optimisation.
• Oversee pharmaceutical procurement, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis and cost‑control initiatives.
• Ensure pharmacy governance, patient safety and compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Implement and optimise ERP, digital health and inventory management systems.
• Build and nurture high‑performing teams while upholding professional and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of progressive leadership experience in pharmacy, healthcare or supply‑chain operations.
• Proven track record managing multi‑site or multi‑country pharmacy services.
• Experience in regulatory compliance, quality assurance and audit management.
• Strong stakeholder management with regulators, providers, suppliers and senior leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and a valid practising licence; advanced degree or certifications are a plus.
