Heavy Goods Vehicle Driver – Night Shunting

About the role

We are looking for experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) drivers to join DHL Kenya’s night shunting team in Nairobi. The role involves operating company trucks during night shifts, ensuring timely loading and unloading at client sites while maintaining safety and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute night shunting operations, meeting KPIs for vehicle turnaround and loading times.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections, report anomalies, and ensure fuel efficiency targets are met.
• Drive DHL vehicles on approved routes, adhering to traffic laws and company values.
• Complete all delivery documentation accurately and submit it to the appropriate offices.
• Report risks, near‑misses, breakdowns, and accidents promptly to supervisors.
• Maintain vehicle safety and quality standards, including compliance with legal requirements.
• Follow standard operating procedures for loading, off‑loading, and site entry/exit.
• Represent DHL professionally to customers and adhere to health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• O‑Level certificate.
• Valid HGV driving licence.
• Minimum three years of professional driving experience.
• Willingness to work shift patterns, including nights and odd days.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili (spoken and written).
• Certificate in mechanics is an advantage.
