HR Leave of Absence Specialist

About the role

The HR Leave of Absence Specialist supports clients by managing medical leaves across multiple states, ensuring compliance with labor regulations and guiding employees and managers throughout the leave process. This onsite role in Nairobi works Monday to Friday, aligning with both CST and Kenya time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate employee leave cases (LOA)
• Ensure compliance with federal and state leave laws
• Guide employees and managers through leave procedures
• Handle inquiries via phone, email, and in person
• Determine leave eligibility and review medical documentation
• Maintain accurate records in HR systems
• Track leave usage and ensure policy compliance
• Provide required communications such as forms, letters, and notices
• Support HR teams and resolve leave‑related issues
• Investigate potential irregularities, including fraud or misuse
• Meet productivity and service standards

Required profile

• 3–5 years of HR experience, preferably in leave of absence or related areas
• Knowledge of labor laws and multi‑state leave regulations
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities
• High attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure
