About the role

The Humanitarian Affairs Officer – Anticipatory Approach (P3) will support the scale‑up and mainstreaming of the anticipatory approach within the Regional Office for Southern and Eastern Africa (ROSEA) of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Nairobi. This temporary position contributes to OCHA’s mission to mobilise and coordinate effective, principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of anticipatory approaches to improve preparedness and response across the Southern and Eastern Africa region.
  • Collaborate with the Climate and Innovation Section in OCHA’s Financing and Outreach Division to integrate climate‑related considerations.
  • Report to the Head of ROSEA through the relevant section chief, with a secondary reporting line to the Climate and Innovation Section.
