Inventory & Cost Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Inventory & Cost Accountant to join our finance team in Nairobi. The role involves maintaining accurate accounting records, managing inventory data and providing cost analysis to support production decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and financial documentation.
• Manage and reconcile inventory records, monitor stock movements, purchases, usage and balances.
• Conduct regular inventory reconciliations and assist with physical stock counts.
• Track and analyse production costs, prepare cost accounting reports and provide cost analysis to management.
• Monitor raw material, labour, overhead and production expenses to determine product costing and profitability.
• Identify inventory variances, wastage and discrepancies.
• Reconcile supplier invoices, purchase records and inventory documentation.
• Support accounts payable and receivable functions and prepare periodic financial and management reports.
• Collaborate closely with procurement, stores, production and management teams.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting and inventory management, with proven cost‑accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of inventory control, reconciliation and accounting principles.
• Experience in manufacturing, steel or industrial production is highly advantageous.
