Lecturer in Pharmacognosy (Herbal Medicine)

About the role

The University seeks a dedicated Lecturer in Pharmacognosy to teach Bachelor of Pharmacy students and lead practical laboratory work focused on herbal medicines and natural products.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and assess Pharmacognosy courses for the B.Pharmacy programme.
• Supervise laboratory sessions covering phytochemical screening, extraction, isolation, and characterization of natural products.
• Develop and update laboratory manuals, course materials, and digital content.
• Participate in curriculum design, review, and accreditation activities.
• Secure research grants and collaborate on research projects.
• Mentor students in academic and research activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dean.

Required profile

• B.Pharmacy and M.Pharmacy in Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Natural Products) or related field.
• PhD in Pharmacognosy or Pharmaceutical Sciences is a distinct advantage.
• Minimum three years of university teaching experience in pharmacognosy or related areas.
• Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Pharmacy and Poisons Board).
• Strong background in laboratory techniques for natural products research.
