Lecturer in Pharmacognosy (Medicinal Plant Chemistry)

About the role
The University seeks a dedicated Lecturer in Pharmacognosy to teach Bachelor of Pharmacy students and lead laboratory sessions focused on natural product research. The role combines classroom instruction, curriculum development, and mentorship of emerging scientists.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver and assess Pharmacognosy courses for the B.Pharmacy program.
- Supervise laboratory work involving phytochemical screening, extraction, isolation, and characterization of natural products.
- Develop and update laboratory manuals, course materials, and digital teaching content.
- Participate in curriculum design, program review, and accreditation activities.
- Secure research funding and collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects.
- Mentor students in academic and research activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dean.
Required profile
- B.Pharmacy or M.Pharmacy in Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Natural Products) or a related field.
- PhD in Pharmacognosy or Pharmaceutical Sciences is a distinct advantage.
- Minimum three years of university teaching experience in pharmacognosy or related areas.
- Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Pharmacy and Poisons Board).
Required skills
- Proficiency in chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques: TLC, HPLC, GC‑MS, NMR.
- Strong laboratory skills in natural products research.
- Ability to integrate technology into teaching and research.
