Maths and Special Education Teacher

About the role

The Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board is seeking a qualified teacher to deliver Mathematics and Special Educational Needs (SET) support at Coláiste Aindriú. This fixed‑term position offers 22 hours per week, split equally between maths and SET teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess the secondary mathematics curriculum.
• Provide dedicated SET support, adapting resources to meet individual learner needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross‑curricular links such as literacy and numeracy.
• Maintain accurate student records and report progress in line with Teaching Council standards.
• Participate in professional development and contribute to a positive school community.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland (essential).
• Qualified teacher status; final‑year students may apply pending successful registration.
• Post‑graduate qualification in Special Education Needs or a commitment to obtain it is an advantage.
• Demonstrated professional knowledge, practice, communication and self‑management competencies.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of the Irish mathematics syllabus and effective pedagogical strategies.
• Understanding of special education needs principles and ability to adapt teaching methods.
• Ability to stay updated with curriculum changes and integrate cross‑curricular learning.
