Pastry Chef / Baker – Full‑time in Nairobi

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Pastry Chef/Baker to join our bakery team in Westlands, Nairobi. You will be responsible for creating a wide range of high‑quality baked goods while maintaining strict food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and bake pastries, cakes, breads, muffins, cookies, donuts, pies and other desserts following recipes.
• Decorate cakes and pastries to ensure attractive and consistent presentation.
• Produce fillings, creams, icings, toppings and sauces.
• Monitor baking times, temperatures and ingredient measurements to guarantee product quality.
• Plan daily production schedules based on demand and stock levels.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery, kitchen and storage areas.
• Adhere to food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Operate bakery equipment such as ovens, mixers, proofers and slicers safely.
• Minimize waste through proper handling and storage of ingredients.
• Assist with stock‑taking and report low stock or equipment issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in a busy restaurant, supermarket, bakery, café or hotel bakery.
• Basic knowledge of food production, baking techniques and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and creativity in presentation.
• Good organizational and time‑management skills.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work flexible shifts, weekends and public holidays.
