Product Manager – Nairobi (Energy & Mobility)

About the role

Powerhive is looking for a Product Manager to own the full product lifecycle for rider apps and back‑end fleet tools in an energy and mobility technology environment. The role is on‑site in Nairobi and requires a degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and at least two years of product experience at a high‑growth startup.

Key responsibilities

• Engage directly with riders and swap‑station operators to translate field insights into a ranked problem list rather than a feature wishlist.
• Define, defend and communicate the product roadmap with senior leadership, aligning it to quarterly business goals.
• Write detailed specifications, acceptance criteria, user stories, edge cases and API expectations for engineering teams.
• Run the development cycle including stand‑ups, demos, releases, planning and grooming while ensuring release quality through UAT, staged rollouts and rollback plans.
• Define launch metrics, instrument dashboards and report on performance against targets.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a closely related technical field.
• Minimum two years of product ownership experience at a startup or high‑growth company.
• Proven track record of taking a product from idea to live users and iterating post‑launch.
• Strong understanding of agile or scrum development methodologies, estimation, code review, CI/CD and release management.
• Technical fluency to read API contracts, sketch data models and evaluate architecture decisions.
• Comfort with data: define metrics, extract numbers yourself and adjust decisions based on evidence.
• Based in Nairobi and willing to work regularly in the field.
