Programme Specialist – Maternal & Newborn Health Fund Governance

About the role

The Programme Specialist will support the UNFPA Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) Fund and related initiatives under the "Start with Her" strategy. Based in the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Branch, the role ensures effective governance, coordination, and communication of the Fund’s activities.

Key responsibilities

• Act as secretariat for the MNH Fund core team, coordinating finance, M&E, and communications.
• Lead the annual work‑planning process for regional and country offices and manage six‑month reviews.
• Prepare and facilitate Advisory Board meetings, including agendas, slide decks, and briefing materials.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, governance calendars, and tracking systems for data requests.
• Produce strategic communications, briefing notes, and high‑quality outreach materials for donors, partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to country offices on midwifery, maternal health commodities, and SRH/MNH integration.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in management, public health, medicine, economics, social sciences or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in maternal health, sexual and reproductive health integration, international development or public health.
• Proven ability to translate complex technical content into clear messages for diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated experience in project and programme management, financial planning and monitoring.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
