Public Health Manager – Primary and Community Health Services

About the role

The Kenya Red Cross Society is seeking a Public Health Manager to lead its Primary and Community Health Services portfolio. Based in Nairobi, you will provide strategic technical leadership across a range of public health interventions, ensuring alignment with Ministry of Health policies and humanitarian standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement and evaluate Primary Health Care and Universal Health Coverage initiatives.
• Oversee programs in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH), blood donor retention, HIV/TB services and digital health integration.
• Ensure evidence‑based programming that strengthens public health systems and expands equitable access for vulnerable populations.
• Coordinate partnerships, resource mobilization, implementation science and policy engagement to support national and county health priorities.
• Provide technical oversight, mentorship and capacity building for KRCS staff and partners.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in public health, medicine, nursing or a related health discipline.
• Significant experience (mid‑level) in managing primary health care or community health programs, preferably in humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
• Strong understanding of Kenya’s health policies, universal health coverage frameworks and RMNCAH guidelines.
• Proven ability to work with government agencies, NGOs and donor partners.
