Regional Compliance Head of Africa (Telecommunication)

About the role

Our client, a multinational telecommunications company, is looking for a Regional Compliance Head for Africa. The senior legal position will drive the implementation of global compliance policies across African markets, manage risk and enhance the capabilities of the compliance team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the regional compliance function and ensure the ethics framework is effective across all African markets.
• Implement global compliance policies, provide Delegation of Authority guidance and oversee REIT and regulatory reporting.
• Design and deliver FCPA, Code of Conduct and other compliance training for employees and vendors.
• Integrate compliance provisions into third‑party agreements and manage OFAC/sanctions screening.
• Coordinate investigations with local legal teams, external advisors and internal stakeholders, handling privilege, evidence preservation and remediation.
• Monitor compliance KPIs, identify risks and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Law degree with admission to practice in a relevant jurisdiction; postgraduate specialization preferred.
• Minimum five years’ experience as legal counsel in a multinational, multi‑market environment.
• Strong knowledge of international compliance principles, regulatory requirements and cross‑border legal practices.
• Proven ability to translate legal expertise into practical business solutions.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Fluency in English; additional African language skills are a plus.

• Experience leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve legal and compliance processes.
