Regional Finance Director, Africa

About the role

The Regional Finance Director, Africa, leads financial management for Mercy Corps’ Africa portfolio. Reporting to the VP of International Finance and the Deputy Regional Director, the role ensures compliance, efficiency, and strategic use of resources across programs.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Finance Directors, Managers, and the Regional Controller to support award implementation and uphold Mercy Corps’ financial best practices.
• Conduct periodic support visits to country programs following approved scopes of work.
• Monitor financial performance of the regional portfolio, identifying strengths, weaknesses, risks, and opportunities.
• Develop and implement strategies to strengthen financial management systems and promote continuous improvement.
• Prepare monthly financial health reviews and risk assessments for senior leadership and the VP of International Finance.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international finance and donor‑regulated environments.
• Proven ability to work with senior leadership across regions and countries.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
