About the role
UN Women is seeking a Regional Portfolio Specialist for the Africa region to manage grants funded by the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and Girls (UNTF). Reporting to the Global Grants Manager, the specialist will provide strategic and technical support to civil‑society partners throughout the grant lifecycle, ensuring feminist‑informed, survivor‑centered programming.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of UNTF grants across Africa, overseeing design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Provide grantees with guidance on risk management, compliance with UN Women and UNTF requirements, and institutional strengthening.
- Conduct strategic portfolio analysis, identify risks and emerging trends, and present recommendations to senior management.
- Collaborate with UN Women regional and country offices, civil‑society organisations, feminist movements and other UN entities to ensure portfolio coherence and knowledge sharing.
- Support capacity‑development activities, learning events and advocacy related to ending violence against women and girls.
Required profile
- Relevant university degree and several years of experience in grant management, development cooperation or humanitarian programming.
- Demonstrated understanding of gender equality, feminist principles and the dynamics of violence against women and girls.
- Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills, with ability to work across diverse stakeholders.
