Research Director, Emergency Cash

About the role

GiveDirectly is seeking a Research Director to lead its Emergency Cash learning agenda. Working closely with product and response leads, you will shape research strategy for cash transfer programs across multiple countries.

Key responsibilities

• Define and continuously update the research and learning priorities for Emergency Cash programs.
• Lead strategic impact evaluations and impact‑focused research, from concept development to partnership building.
• Set standards, policies, and processes for research best practice, ensuring quality, ethics, and compliance.
• Pilot innovative research methods in fast‑evolving humanitarian contexts and disseminate lessons organization‑wide.
• Provide intellectual leadership, mentor team members, and directly manage projects in emerging areas of the portfolio.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in research strategy, impact evaluation, and M&E for humanitarian cash programs.
• Experience managing multi‑country research projects and establishing external partnerships.
• Strong understanding of ethical standards and compliance in humanitarian research.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with product, partnerships, and fundraising teams.
