Resident Medical Officer

About the role

The Resident Medical Officer will join Valley Hospital’s clinical team in Westlands, Nairobi, providing comprehensive medical care to in‑patients and emergency cases. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic hospital environment while contributing to patient outcomes and continuous quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, establish diagnoses, and prescribe appropriate treatments.
• Manage inpatient care, coordinate discharge planning, and ensure timely follow‑up.
• Provide emergency care, including initial stabilization of critically ill patients.
• Participate in ward rounds, case reviews, and multidisciplinary consultations.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation, handovers, and comply with infection‑control protocols.
• Engage in Continuous Medical Education (CME) and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in a comparable healthcare facility.
• Registration and a valid practising licence with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
