Sales Team Leader – Nyanza Region

About the role

The client, a leading FMCG food manufacturer, is looking for an experienced Sales Team Leader to drive growth in Kenya’s Nyanza Region. The role involves expanding market share, managing distributor and retail relationships, and leading a high‑performing field sales team.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure outlet execution aligns with company standards and drive trade marketing initiatives.
• Monitor competitor activity and provide market intelligence.
• Maintain compliance with pricing structures and merchandising standards.
• Develop and implement route plans for Trade Development Representatives and acquire new outlets.
• Achieve daily, weekly and monthly sales targets while optimizing field resource allocation.
• Manage distributor performance, stock levels and order management to minimise stock‑outs.
• Identify new business opportunities and support distributors with inventory planning.
• Lead, coach and motivate Area Sales Team Leaders, TDRs and Distributor Sales Representatives.
• Identify capability gaps and deliver training and performance management.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Management or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of FMCG sales experience in the Nyanza Region.
• Proven track record managing distributors, sales teams and trade operations.
• Strong understanding of route‑to‑market strategies and trade execution.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation and communication abilities.
