Senior Research Officer for Sudan, based in Nairobi

IMPACT Initiatives is seeking a Senior Research Officer to support its Sudan country team from Nairobi. The role focuses on cash‑and‑markets research, helping to inform emergency response and resource prioritisation in a rapidly evolving humanitarian context.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all cash‑related workstreams and oversee the Joint Market Monitoring Initiative (JMMI) research cycle.
• Collect, verify and analyse monthly price and stock‑level data across Sudan.
• Produce timely market reports and briefings for humanitarian partners.
• Coordinate with the Research Manager and other units to ensure data quality and methodological rigour.
• Support field teams with market assessments and contribute to strategic decision‑making.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in research, monitoring or evaluation within humanitarian or development settings.
• Demonstrated experience with cash‑and‑market assessments, preferably in Sudan or similar contexts.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
• Willingness to be based in Nairobi and travel as needed.
