Sports Lead – International School

About the role

The International School in Lavington, Nairobi seeks a dynamic Sports Lead to oversee all physical education, swimming and external coaching programmes. Reporting to senior school leadership, you will shape the sports curriculum, drive student participation and ensure high‑quality instruction aligned with the school’s Christian values.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and line‑manage PE teachers, swimming instructors and external coaches.
• Develop and implement an annual Sports & PE strategic plan that aligns with the school vision and calendar.
• Create and maintain a comprehensive yearly sports calendar, including PE lessons, swimming galas, inter‑house competitions and inter‑school tournaments.
• Conduct regular lesson observations, provide constructive feedback and ensure 100 % curriculum coverage.
• Design and standardise schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment frameworks.
• Organise after‑school sports trainings and coordinate logistics such as venues, equipment, transport and fixtures.
• Maintain accurate sports inventory, guarantee equipment safety and oversee storage.
• Communicate sports schedules to staff and parents and perform any additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or a related field.
• Minimum five years of teaching experience in an International School, with a strong record of leadership.
• Teaching Certificate (TSC Registration) and, preferably, swimming or lifeguard certification.
• Coaching certifications are an advantage.
• Demonstrated Christian values, integrity and a passion for holistic child development.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and classroom‑management skills.
