Support Engineer Database MongoDB & Elasticsearch

About the role

We are seeking an experienced L2 Support Engineer with deep hands‑on expertise in MongoDB and Elasticsearch to join our production support team in Angola or Kenya. The role involves providing 24/7 Level 2 operational and technical support for database and search platforms in a high‑availability environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver L2 production support for MongoDB and Elasticsearch clusters.
• Monitor health, performance, availability and capacity of database and search platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve indexing, connectivity, and performance issues.
• Perform MongoDB administration tasks such as replication, backup/recovery and performance optimisation.
• Manage Elasticsearch cluster health, node operations, shard allocation and performance tuning.
• Investigate production incidents, meet SLA targets and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Develop and maintain monitoring, automation and operational scripts.
• Document technical procedures, troubleshooting guides and incident reports.
• Participate in a rotating 24/7 on‑call schedule, including weekends and out‑of‑hours shifts.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in database administration, production support or infrastructure support.
• Strong hands‑on experience with MongoDB and Elasticsearch administration and troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to support 24/7 production environments and manage incidents.
• Good understanding of Linux/Unix systems and performance optimisation.
• Excellent analytical, communication and collaboration skills.
