Banking Investigations Team Leader

About the role

Equity Bank Kenya is seeking a Banking Investigations Team Leader to head the investigation function within its branch operations. The role will provide strategic leadership, oversee complex fraud and misconduct cases, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate investigations into branch operations, customer accounts, banking fraud, operational losses, staff misconduct, and regulatory breaches.
• Direct inquiries on unauthorized transactions, account takeovers, forged instruments, dormant account fraud, cash losses, collusion, and control breaches.
• Assign, monitor and ensure timely closure of investigations in line with service level agreements and established procedures.
• Collaborate with risk, compliance and legal teams to develop investigative strategies and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in criminology, commerce, banking and finance, law, accounting or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ACAMS or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in forensic investigations, fraud risk management, banking operations or law enforcement.
• Proven ability to manage complex investigations and multidisciplinary teams within a financial institution.
