Consultant for Review & Redesign of Women School of Leadership Curriculum

About the role

Fairtrade Africa is seeking an experienced consultant to lead a comprehensive review and redesign of the Women School of Leadership (WSOL) curriculum and overall model. The assignment will cover curriculum, facilitator certification, cascading approaches, mentorship, leadership pathways, and sustainability mechanisms across multiple country contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose the current WSOL model, including cascading ratios and leadership barriers, based on a 2026 mid‑term evaluation.
• Redesign the programme into two tailored tracks (SPO and HLO) integrating climate resilience, digital financial literacy, GBV/safeguarding and mental wellness.
• Develop implementation‑ready facilitator and participant materials suitable for low‑literacy and low‑connectivity settings.
• Strengthen monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) frameworks for qualitative transformative outcomes.
• Pilot, validate and finalise the redesigned programme in at least two country contexts (one SPO, one HLO) and hand over the final model.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Adult Education, Development Studies or related field.
• Minimum 7 years experience designing gender‑transformative, participatory curricula for low‑literacy adults.
• Proven experience with cascading/ToT models and facilitator certification in agricultural or cooperative settings.
• Strong track record in participatory research methods (FGDs, KIIs, storytelling) with women and marginalised groups.
• Experience developing qualitative MEL frameworks for transformative outcomes.
• Working knowledge of French desirable; Portuguese an advantage.
