HR Manager

About the role

The ideal candidate is a systems‑builder who thrives in a start‑up or scale‑up context. You will design HR infrastructure from the ground up, balancing strategic leadership (≈70%) with hands‑on operational delivery (≈30%). Reporting to the Managing Director, you will shape people strategy in a fast‑paced, safety‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with growth objectives, lead talent acquisition, employee engagement, succession and workforce planning.
• Build and improve HR policies, SOPs and operational frameworks to ensure best practices and compliance with Kenyan employment legislation.
• Integrate health and safety into the people agenda, ensuring statutory H&S compliance across project sites.
• Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment, onboarding, payroll coordination, attendance, leave administration and employee records.
• Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and grievance handling.
• Design and deliver learning and development programmes, including safety training and technical upskilling.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
• Minimum 7 years progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• CHRP‑K certification and active IHRM practising certificate.
• Proven experience building HR systems and processes from scratch in high‑growth environments.
• Strong knowledge of the Kenyan Employment Act, 2007 and related legislation.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate health & safety in a safety‑intense sector.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites across counties.
