Volunteer Accountant for Rights-based Reproductive Health NGO (4-6 weeks)

About the role

This is a short‑term (4‑6 weeks) volunteer accounting assignment with a rights‑based reproductive health NGO in Kenya. The role supports the organisation’s financial management as it expands its programmes for adolescent girls.

Key responsibilities

• Review and re‑validate existing standard operating procedures and the finance manual.
• Recommend and draft updated finance and operations protocols that maintain controls while delegating authority.
• Work with senior leadership to create annual budgets and migrate them into QuickBooks Online for regular budget‑to‑actual variance analysis.
• Design and refine monthly management reports, dashboards, and templates for quarterly and annual board reporting.
• Evaluate data collection processes and propose automation to improve decision‑making.

Required profile

• Qualified accounting professional with experience in non‑profit financial management.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
• Experience with budget variance analysis and financial reporting.
• Ability to develop and improve SOPs, finance manuals, and operational protocols.
• Competence in creating management dashboards and automated reporting tools.
