Actuarial Manager – Insurance Risk & Capital Management

About the role

Absa Financial Services is seeking an experienced Actuarial Manager to lead the Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) and Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) processes for its insurance group. You will use your actuarial expertise to support regulatory reporting, capital management and strategic business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end SAM reporting, including calculation of SCR, Eligible Own Funds and intragroup adjustments.
• Prepare Quantitative Reporting Templates and narrative disclosures for regulatory submissions.
• Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Group ORSA framework, producing annual and ad‑hoc calculations.
• Conduct solvency forecasting, stress‑testing and risk‑appetite metric maintenance.
• Assess capital and liquidity implications of dividend proposals, strategic initiatives and business decisions.
• Support internal and external audit engagements and ensure consistent application of Prudential Standards across entities.

Required profile

• Strong actuarial background with experience in insurance valuation, capital management and regulatory reporting.
• Ability to analyse complex financial risk data and present insights to senior management.
