Controllership Accountant

About the role

Deloitte is seeking a Controllership Accountant to join its Member Firm Internal Services – Finance team in Nairobi. The role will maintain the general ledger, prepare IFRS‑compliant financial statements and ensure robust internal controls across the Kenya operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger by preparing, reviewing and posting journal entries, accruals, provisions and period‑end adjustments.
• Oversee fixed‑asset accounting, including register maintenance, depreciation, impairment and disposal processing.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close activities, balance‑sheet reconciliations and statutory financial statement preparation.
• Manage statutory filings, coordinate audits and support regulatory compliance.
• Provide regular updates to the CFO and Regional Controllership Manager and act as the primary finance contact for in‑country accounting matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA or ACCA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS and strong analytical abilities.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, particularly SAP and SAGE.
• High professional ethics and strong communication skills.
