Clinical Nurse – Cardiology Clinic

About the role

The Clinical Nurse will work in the Cardiology Clinic of Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, providing comprehensive patient assessment, support during cardiac procedures, and education on cardiac care. This full‑time position reports directly to the Nurse Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial patient assessments and document findings.
• Assist cardiologists and sonographers during Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram and Trans‑Esophageal Echocardiogram procedures.
• Perform and interpret electrocardiograms (ECGs).
• Assist with pacemaker interrogation and provide related patient counseling.
• Educate patients and families on cardiac care, medication, and lifestyle modifications.
• Follow up on imaging and pathology reports, ensuring they are filed correctly.
• Coordinate referrals to community resources and reinforce upcoming appointments.
• Provide telephone advice and support to patients regarding clinic bookings and laboratory visits.

Required profile

• Qualified nursing degree (bachelor level) and appropriate licensure.
• Ability to report to and collaborate with the Nurse Manager.

Required skills

• ECG interpretation.
• Experience with Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram procedures.
• Experience with Trans‑Esophageal Echocardiogram procedures.
• Pacemaker interrogation proficiency.
