Country LPG Operations & LMD Lead

About the role

This role oversees end‑to‑end physical operations of Sun King’s PAYG LPG business in Kenya, managing supplier intake, bulk transport, depot management, cylinder lifecycle, shop replenishment and last‑mile delivery. It also builds scalable Last Mile Delivery (LMD) capabilities for current LPG operations and future product categories.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate LPG sourcing, bulk transport and ensure safe, timely movement of LPG across the network.
• Manage inventory flow for cylinders, cookstoves, accessories and related items, establishing safety stock policies and minimizing stock‑outs.
• Develop standardized depot layouts, capacity benchmarks and compliance with safe storage standards.
• Maintain cylinder tracking, improve working‑capital efficiency and ensure high asset recovery and redeployment rates.
• Optimize rider productivity, delivery routing, fleet utilization and cost‑per‑delivery for last‑mile service.
• Ensure operational safety, conduct depot audits and coordinate incident investigations.
• Design scalable LMD infrastructure that can serve LPG and future product categories such as solar and mobile devices.
• Lead multi‑country LMD teams, create SOPs, recruit and train staff, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Own financial performance, monitor KPIs like availability, transport costs, depot throughput and cost‑to‑serve, and provide regular reports to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, Finance, IT or related field.
• Experience in LPG, downstream oil & gas or FMCG distribution with strong knowledge of last‑mile networks.
• Proven project‑management and process‑improvement track record in emerging markets.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and evaluate operational impact on delivery efficiency.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and cross‑border team‑development skills.
• Strong data interpretation and financial analysis abilities; familiarity with energy regulatory bodies is a plus.
