Graduate Assistant – Geospatial Information Science & Remote Sensing

About the role

The Graduate Assistant will conduct research in geospatial information science and remote sensing, focusing on GIS programming and spatial tools development. The position is full‑time, on‑site, and offers a full scholarship for a Master of Science degree.

Key responsibilities

• Dedicate 100% of time to research and implementation of the project.
• Collect, analyse, and interpret field‑derived data, producing presentations, reports and summaries.
• Develop training materials and deliver training to local communities and other audiences on research products and tools.
• Submit quarterly progress reports on project implementation and outcomes.

Required profile

• First‑class honours or second‑class upper division BSc in Geomatics, Geospatial Information Systems or Remote Sensing (preferably from DeKUT).
• Demonstrable experience in GIS programming and spatial tools development.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and SQL.
• Experience with Typescript, Python frameworks, and Google Earth Engine is an added advantage.
