Grievance Officer (Naivasha)

About the role

The Grievance Officer will manage the operational grievance mechanisms for employees, contract workers, trade unions and surrounding communities at our Naivasha site. The role ensures that all grievances related to labour conditions, workplace conduct, union relations, community impacts, land use, security and environmental or social concerns are received, assessed, resolved and remediated in line with Kenyan law and UNGP Principle 31.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and log grievances through confidential, non‑retaliatory channels.
• Assess each grievance for urgency, risk and rights impact and determine the appropriate resolution pathway.
• Maintain a comprehensive grievance register and track cases from receipt to closure.
• Conduct or coordinate impartial investigations, including interviews, site inspections and document reviews.
• Engage complainants, supervisors, union officials, labour contractors and community leaders to facilitate dialogue‑based solutions.
• Facilitate fair, culturally appropriate resolutions such as mediation, corrective actions or negotiated settlements.
• Recommend and monitor the implementation of proportionate remedies and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience handling employee, contractor or community grievances.
• Good knowledge of Kenyan labour law and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP) Principle 31.
• Strong investigative and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently on site with frequent field presence.
