About the role
Lead, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) provides senior technical leadership and day‑to‑day oversight of Save the Children’s global MHPSS support to country offices. The role reports to the Head, Learn Breakthrough and manages a team of advisors, ensuring high‑quality, timely, context‑appropriate assistance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead provision of technical support to country offices for MHPSS, maintaining high standards and adapting strategies to evolving needs.
- Manage a team of technical experts, fostering an inclusive environment and promoting professional development.
- Coordinate technical assistance and resource allocation across multiple awards and rapid‑onset emergencies.
- Deputise for the Head, Learn Breakthrough, contributing to strategic planning and decision‑making.
- Advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion within programmes and ensure sector interventions are accessible to all children.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in psychology, mental health, social work, public health or a related behavioural science discipline.
- Extensive experience designing, implementing and evaluating MHPSS programmes in humanitarian and development settings.
- Proven track record in leading global technical teams and managing complex multi‑award projects.
- Ability to travel up to 20 % internationally and work in challenging environments.
Required skills
- Technical expertise in MHPSS programme design, implementation and evaluation.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for data‑driven programme improvement.
- Capacity‑building and mentoring experience for staff and local partners.
- Proposal development and strategic plan writing for donor‑funded projects.
- Compliance and quality assurance of awards against donor requirements.
